It feels like yesterday that we were celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary, and now here we are a year later, celebrating 5 now!
I remember my Dad always saying, focus on school, boys later! I think it was a fair teaching, considering I was his 3rd girl! I was never really looking for a boyfriend so when I met Jesse in high school I couldn't imagine being where we are today. 11 years together, 2 beautiful boys, and moving into our fully renovated house next week!!! Needless to say, it has been quite a ride! Growing up I never really had a vision of what I wanted my life to look like.
Being high school sweethearts meant that we went through some of the most significant years of our lives together. Sometimes when I think about that, it's definitely been those years that have made us stronger in our relationship today. You either grow together or grow apart, and for us we have grown together. I truly believe that love is a choice, not a feeling. After the butterflies take flight, you are left with your own choice to choose to love, because nobody is perfect- only perfect for you.
On April 7th 2011, I made a commitment to love through the good times and the bad. I remember saying to Jesse, I don't know why I love you so much. I don't love anyone the way I love you. It sounds so cliche, but when you find that one person who just gets you, and makes you an even better version of yourself, that is love. I couldn't imagine my life without him, and that to me is knowing that I have found true love.
We planned a destination wedding because we both love the beach and warm weather! Our wedding day was amazing! 44 of our closest family and friends who came down to Punta Cana Dominican, to share in one of the best days of our lives!
These past 5 years of marriage have been crazy, and I would not have wanted to do it with anyone else!
Like Nicholas Sparks once wrote... "It's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really, really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday." -Nicholas Sparks
Last night we went out to Red a lobster, which seems to be our anniversary choice for dinner! Can't get enough of their snow crab legs! Because we are finally moving into our home next Thursday we decided to plan a little getaway at the end of this month once we are settled! I couldn't imagine enjoying these life pleasures with anyone else!
Cheers to another 50+ years! To sharing this life with him, raising our family, falling more in love, and facing whatever comes our way- together!
Happy 5 years to us, and to all you other lovebirds out there!
Thanks for stopping by!
