This weekend I had the opportunity to teach some wonderful ladies a step by step process of how to apply an everyday look, night look, as well as some tips and tricks!
I truly enjoy the process of a "makeover."
I was asked by a few of my clients, what my favourite part of doing makeup is?
Each step is a lot of fun for me, but I would have to say the finished product! When mine or somebody else's features are enhanced.
I like to think of the process of doing makeup like doing a renovation(which me and my husband know all about). You don't want to live in it, until it's all done! Haha
I had a lot of information to share with everybody who was a part of the lessons, but I won't be able to fit them all into one blog! Here are MY TOP 5 TIPS to remember...
TIP #1⃣- Makeup is amazing, it can work wonders, but let's start with our skin.
Here are some of m favourite products that make taking off your makeup easy:
💧Baby oil! With a cotton pad, I wipe my eyes with it, in a gentle upward and outward motion, never rubbing my eye.
Then I cleanse my face with,
💧Vichy gentle purifying, radiance revealer, foaming cleanser. Smells great and great for sensitive skin too!
With warm/hot water I apply and gently rub upward and outward my face and neck. After I PAT my face dry with a towel, and make sure all my eye makeup has been removed, I then rinse one more time with cool/cold water to close my pores, giving my next step the perfect canvas. (Pat dry again)
Finishing off my routine with
💧St.Ives(Dr.Oz recommended) timeless skin, collagen elastin moisturizer!
Leaving my skin feeling super soft, ready for the renewal process, to keep my skin looking younger, clearer and of course happier!
If you don't have a routine, now is the time to start one!
TIP #2⃣- When doing my makeup, I always start with my eyes first! I do this so that when the eyeshadow powder falls I am able to wipe it off. Then I moisturize, prime and finish off with the face.
It's a trick I learned a while ago, when I found myself wiping off the eyeshadow powder that had fallen under my eye, after I already had my foundation complete. So I trained myself to do my eyes first. Just something that makes a lot more sense to me!
TIP #3⃣- Another important part of my makeup routine is brushes. I always recommend using brushes to apply your makeup. With Brushes you get all of your makeup, as opposed to a sponge that absorbs some of it. Of course cleaning your brushes is important to, otherwise they get dirty and you just deposit that dirt onto your skin over and over with new makeup.
I know it's tough to find time to clean your brushes, but TRY to clean your brushes at LEAST once a month, but aim for once every 2 weeks! The more the better!
The more you continue to add brushes into your everyday routine, the easier they will become to use! And the more you use them, the more you will realize you can't live without them! Repetition will make all the difference!
TIP #4⃣- Don't forget to go through your makeup bag once and a while! Toss any makeup you have had for more than 2 years(some even after a year). Most products actually show you on the container when it expires) I know sometimes this can be hard, but keeping old makeup will only take up space and isn't good for your skin. Refresh your makeup bag. If you don't use something, get rid of it. Don't buy something just because it's pretty, make sure you have a use for it! 😊
TIP #5⃣- There are a few spots on our face that we should make sure we enhance. Our eyes, cheeks, nose and our lips!!
It is super important to add colour to your lips(no matter how light) because it gives them some life, which makes a world of a difference! Your lips shouldn't blend into your skin! I wouldn't say this is not a "pet peeve" of mine, but let's just say it makes me a lot happier when there is a little bit of life in your lips!! 💋
Something else you should try and remember is that your lips should either take a back seat from your eyes, or be the main focus. You don't want to have them competing for the attention! That's something I really like to remember. You can definitely have dark eyes and dark lips look great together, but I personally prefer one or the other! 👌
I hope some of my tips help you with your everyday and long term routine! Makeup should be FUN, so take some time for yourself and Enjoy! 😊 Like I said, I have so many Tips and tricks, I can't fit them into just one blog, more of my favourites throughout the year... 😘 Thanks for stopping by!
